When life-long aviator William Shea decided to publish his memoir he handed over to me a pile of old photographs, a number of “chapters” written in Microsoft Word, and a cover designed by a former student. I had to scan the photos and import the Word files into InDesign then work with the printer to make sure the cover would fit once the final book was perfect bound. Aviation Memoir was a success and sold out of two printings. We are currently discussing an updated eBook edition.
